Keynote speech | The 2024 US Elections and the Information Environment

On November 5, American voters will head to the polls to cast their votes in the 2024 presidential election. In recent presidential elections, the manipulation of social media has undermined confidence in the integrity of the electoral process. With the 2024 election approaching, there is a heightened risk of such manipulation recurring. Furthermore, the advent of new AI technologies will transform thse process of identifying and countering social media manipulation, and discerning real from fake. Our keynote speaker will explore current observations in the information environment related to the election, discuss the potential for social media manipulation on Election Day, and examine the risks such manipulation poses to public trust in the electoral process.
